ok so this is what it says in the book.

Write an algebraic expression for each verbal expression.

12. the sum of a number and 7
14. the product of 5 and a number
16. 18 and three times d

l didn't understand get algebra in high school (that was 100 yrs ago) but your question makes me glad l'm not in school now.
