this is an answer you should get from your coach. He's likely to tell you how he would choose.
good luck. Congrats for being number one in your high school tennis team.

It depends on what grade you are in. If freshman or sophmore, you have time to improve. If you are a senior, I would join the team where you could play the most. Are these two different schools? I never heard of one school having both 3a and 4a teams. Anyway if you are a freshman you might want to go for the better team. Both would be alright as far as college is concerned it seems to me. Actually, I would probably go for the team where I could play the most.

You could lose your number one spot if the coach chooses to move you down. It is the coach's decision of who plays in the number one spot. Your coach might also switch you with the number 2 or 3 spot if he wants to stack his team to give your team a better chance of winning. Good luck with your season and don't be too worried if you get bumped down, it doesn't mean you aren't the best player it just gives you a better chance of beating your opponent.

Good question. I think that if you lose a lot and other players (like 2 and 3 singles) win then the coach may allow them to challenge you for your spot.

The Michigan State HS rule is if a #1 players turns out to be a arrogant &*^$** bc he is #1, then the coach much replace him with the #2 player. No exceptions.

It totally depends on your coach! Most schools have no policy for anything like that. If your really concerned, talk to your coach. Otherwise just go out and play your game.

Do you run the team, do we, or does the coach? Oh I see, I'm sure he has the entire teams best interest at heart, not just one conceded little brats.
