In professional tennis, it's pretty obvious that the men are much better than the women, their shots are harder, so are there serves, ect...

But what I'm wondering, is that if the WTA and and ATP tours fused, where do you think the women would fit? Is my theory completely wrong and Henin would still be number one over Federer? Or would they even make the cut, is it possible like sharapova or henin or others wouldn't even be able to beat any of the ATP ranked players? What do you think?

Edit: First, thanks for all input as of now! Second, to tadeeb, read my statement again, it was just something to ponder, I don't actually think Henin would even be a challenge for Fed.

Also, one other thing I was just pondering that I haven't heard many others mention is the fact that women only play 3 sets. Do you think the women even have the endurance to play 5 sets?

Not even the Williams sisters have a snowball's chance in hell of taking a game from Federer. Maybe if both of them together play doubles against Federer alone, maybe they have a chance.

The battle of the sexes is so over hyped. Remember Navratilova vs Connors. They gave Martina the doubles court to play with and she still lost 7-6 6-0.

Lol......You admit that men are much better than women in
tennis. But you also point out that Henin can beat Federer.
You got to be kidding. I bet, she cannot even win a game
against Federer, let alone winning a set. The number 1
women's player may compete closely with 100+ ranked men
player. Better than Henin, I would give a better chance to
the William sisters to win a game here and there against
Federer.

So #1 player would be ranked 101 or even 201 etc.

I do not think Henin could even compete with at least the top 30 men. The women that would stand the best chance against someone like Federer would be power players like the Williams sisters and Sharapova. Even then, Federer is the best in the world and I highly doubt any player on the WTA tour could even compete with him.

No offense, but even the top 10 women can only compete with the 100+ ranked male players because they is a large marginal difference in stamina, power, speed, and height. Most male players serve 120mph on average, while most female players wish they could even get that close on average. Also the speed and pace of the ball will be totally different between the two.

Remember, during puberty, women's muscle mass do not increase like men's; therefore, the distinct physical difference of the sexes. Man gain the muscle mass because of testosterone, and woman do not. This is why there's a big difference between men's tennis and women's tennis.

It's not a sexist thing, but not even Henin would be in the top 100, much less take on Federer. There would be no women in the top 100.
