The earth as we know it will meet its end as a burned up cinder and vaporized due to the expansion of the sun. Very simply put, There will be one last perfect day on earth in approximately a few billion years. Then the sun will run out of its hydrogen fuel. The fusion of hydrogen to helium will quit. This will start the core of the Sun to shrink and heat up. The outer layers will expand and the sun will become a red giant and will shine at least 100 times brighter than it does now. The inner planets will be "swallowed" up by the sun's outer layers and these will expand out to around the orbit of the planet Mars. Therefore the world will end due to the sun.

I'm not a scientist, but I do believe the world will end somehow. I mean that the Earth will cease to exist, but there will always be a universe. It will probably be swallowed by the Sun and obliterated, after our sun becomes a red giant. But that is not supposed to happen for about another 4 billion years. I'm sure that if we don't change and global climate changes do not slow down, we will have floods, a lasting ice age, and will be ravaged by disease, but even if the whole human species is wiped out there will always be those cockroaches that survive the whole thing!

The world won't ever end.
Yeah, you heard that right.
Earth will....not the world :D
Get a time machine, peek 1000..or 10,000 years into the future, and you'll see humans buzzing in light speeds trips all over the damned milky way.
Humans would've shifted to some other planet or some artificial planet-space-craft floating way outside the solar system by the time the sun decides to say goodbye with a bang bang some millions of years from now.
Technically, earth along with the rest of the solar system will get done by the sun. Its inevitable.
As for floods, meteors...freakin' kidding me? Humans have made their way through ice age, meteor bangs, wars, weapons of mass destruction...There's nothing on earth that can wipe humanity off completely.

It's pretty much completely accepted among scientists that barring a hit from a large asteriod, the Earth will be demolished in about 5 billion years when the Sun expands into a red giant star and engulfs the Earth.
A flood would only cover the surface - it wouldn't destroy the planet, not by far.

There are many speculations about the end of the life on earth and end of earth itself. Probably the flood refers to the global warming and the melting of the glaciers etc. and also huge rains pouring down for weeks. All life may not get extinguished though the losses may be huge.
There is a theory that the Sun will expand in one phase of its life cycle and thus earth will come close to Sun and the temperature will shoot up. All life will die and earth itself may disappear.

Go with the guesstronomers. A giant flood wouldn't end the Earth, just some of its inhabitants.

The planet could be destroyed if it's hit by some major meteor.
Life on the planet will be destroyed when the Sun burns off enough of its mass so that it can no longer maintain its shape and expands to include the orbits of Earth. Or it could be destroyed if a meteor of large enough size (not enough to destroy the planet),blasting millions of tons of stuff into the atmosphere and causing winter conditions word wide. But what is most likely is that we'll simply obliterate ourselves by over population, over development, or over pollution. Oh, and somebody may decide to "push the button." But that might not obliterate life... it might just blast us back to the stone age.

I don't think it will be a massive flood. But it can be due to the harmful rays of sun and it could be any natuaral incidents. The world will end someday.
