Yes and recently it's been escalating- I mustn't push my step.

If Death is coming up the stairs for me, then steps will have to be taken...
I am widely known as a brave and resolute fellow, but if death enters at the door then I leave through the window.
Cheers, Steve.
PS my wife tells me that going to a party with laddered tights is social death, but this may not be relevant.

Not really but I have had close-calls. When I was about 7 years old I used to take swimming lessons. The teacher told me to practice some "moves" while she left to do something. She meant for me to hold onto the rail above the pool but I didn't know that. I started paddling into deeper water and almost drowned. There have been many other occasions like this, such as lightning striking just outside my window, severe asthma attacks, getting heat exhaustion, and almost getting hit by a car.

I don't know about "stairing death in the face" but if you've ever slid down the banister too fast and become impaled on the acorn cap atop the newel post, you'll see your life flash in front of you ... if not BEHIND you!

Yes I have 'stared' death in the face. I've been shot at a few times, stabbed, and other nasty things. I have watched others as they took their own journey..and as Vamedicca says, some I've won, some I've lost. Death does not frighten me anymore.

My own, no, thank God.
Stared a number other people's deaths in the face, though. Some I've won, some I've lost.

Got close enough a few times! He doesn't have a face, He's a skeleton under that cloak! When he invited me to walk with him I just told him I was busy and would catch him later!
Seen many others take that walk though!

Not necessarily death, but I stared at a Rottweiler with its mouth wide open seconds before it bit my leg 4 weeks ago. I thought it was the end for me.

Yes.
I've nearly drowned (and my life didn't flash before my eyes), been hit by a sword (stage combat. Those things aren't as harmless as you might like to believe! The amount of people that've died from stage combat ...), I had pnemonia when i was little and I've been hit by lightning.

Too many times. That's why I'm the Black sheep of the family. Adrenaline junkies don't fit into their safe little lifestyle! However, my brothers still look with jealous rage!
