I am asking about the old Pentium 4.

I understand that for every processor, they have a processor number. How are they related to the processor themselves?

For example, what is the processor number for the Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (Socket 478)?

Likewise, what is the processor number for the Pentium 4 3.06GHz (Socket 775)?

It's just a model number Intel started using when Socket 775 and Core series CPUs came along.

According to the chart you linked to, P4 3.06 is 524.

Models before that doesn't have a processor number. If you click on the "learn about processor numbers" link you'll see that it tells you which CPU families it applies to.
