How has techonology advanced in the state of California?

How? the same as everywhere else. It may jump ahead for awhile as in electronics and computers but everyone else catches up and some leap ahead.

But if the question is in what way. Most higher education in California is land grant public university. Therefore we have a much more educated population. This means companies that are doing research and inventing new things locate here because of the plentiful supple of educated workers. The weather is also better than anywhere else so its easy to draw from other areas in the US and foreign countries.

I have always been amazed at the number of languages I hear and the races I see in the San Francisco Bay Area.
