Not so much. Even completely free on your own land, you would have to work for your own sustenance.

The term "wage slaves" was used by the slave holding southerners to refer to northerners who worked for their living - so unless you are looking to subjugate others for the purpose of making yourself free, you are probably as free as you can be.
