We live in a wicked world so we must be cautious at all times. While there are trustworthy people; there are many more "no good" people so we can't be naive about this fact. Don't trust your emotions, because they can tricks into believing things that are down right wrong believing these falsehoods are true. I repeat---do NOT rely on emotions. Rely on a person's track record for their honesty, integrity and character. Pray and ask God to help you with discerning the character of a person before you trust them completely.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the answer you're looking for, but I do believe people are basically good at heart it's just our inherent tendancies that set us apart in our beliefs of what is right and what is wrong to beautiful and ugly..... Lots of time when a person slips and does something seemingly immoral they can be pretty much blind to how to attain true enlightenment and such, so, bad things happen, to good people and good things happen to bad people, that is for sure. But what we can never be sure of is if a person is intentedly employing evil but usually that just isn't the case. Greed or morally corrupt or unrealised desires in an evolutional sense cause us to do nasty things b/c we don't really know any better, and chances are if a person is unaware of how they treat another, other people around them either accept it or disrespect it.

Firstly, it depends on how long you knew the person. Ask yourself a question such as: do I know this person well?
Some gifted people have excellent methods to sniff out people as such. I'm not sure if you mean 1. 'How can you trust a person?' or 2. 'How do I know if they did something bad?' If you can't trust a person, don't. If you even have a suspicious feeling, don't. It's better to be safe.
If you mean 2., look for symptoms: sweaty palms, people not able to make eye contacts, dry tongue, etc. Look more on websites.

it comes with life experience and even then u cant be 100% on trusting that person as there is a chance that in some way or another and in your eyes that they may one day break that trust . when that happens ........it really hurts. but that doesnt mean that people are not trustworthy as some people are like saints.
I have a fave quote which goes like this..." love many, trust few, and learn to paddle your own canoe.
good luck but just be careful with your heart.

Trust has to be earned and it's basically how honest the person is and whether they have your best intentions in mind or are just out to get you to do what they want. Trust your instincts and give things a thought before doing.

it sounds as tho you do not trust your boyfriend when he goes out.
well I'm a man I have a girl I go out and would never dream of cheating on her no mater what but I guess that all men are not the same.
however to answer your question the simple truth is you cant really trust anyone.
but if you really know that person then you should know the answer..
