Yes, and the keyword is 'merger'. It's not a takeover of industry by gov't or even takover of gov't by industry. It's a merger done with money, not force, that buys the corps influence with gov't. One example of increased corporate influence is that the number of lobbyists in DC has more than doubled since 2000, and the amount they charge has increased by as much as 100%.
