Sometimes when I'm talking to people I just start to stutter. I say the beginning of the word over and over, or just open and close my mouth until I can finally get the word out; and also when I get into one of theses 'fits' I have a VERY hard time coming up with simple words. Examples: Picnic, school, book, tree, quilt, camera...

It couldn't possibly be because I'm nervous. I don't stutter when I talk with people I should be nervous with. I stutter when I talk with my parents, my friends...sometimes even when I talk to my dog I stutter!

I'd say it happens 1-2 times a week, where I can't "find" my words and my mind short-circuits, causing me to stutter.

Why could this be?

Contact The Stuttering Foundation of America. There is a toll free number on their web site. They should be able to give you some information.

That's a good question for Eva Woolwine who has a page on Myspace at http://groups.myspace.com/stutteringfoundation. She stutters and has made it her platform in beauty pageants.
