I am trying to sell a 1848 one cent penny. How much is it worth?

Being an avid collector, the first thing one must determine is condition of the coin, then the variety, if any, for the particular coin. That will help determine the value. Most libraries will have books related to grading that you may find helpful, or check around for a local coin club, maybe a member will grade it's condition for you.
