my gynaec prescribed me iron, vitamins and zince tabs once a day. calcium 500 mg twice a day. while these are normal, i am also prescribed some amino acid tabs ( says amino acids with minerals) twice a day along with Vitamin E and C ( tocopherol) once a day! Phew...if this was not enough I am on medication for blood pressure i.e. Alpha dopa once a day!! I am in my 26th week of pregnancy. Will complete 6 months tomorrow ( wow) but these days all I do is get up and eat my vitamins!! Is anyone going through the same??? Please share your experiences.

Iron Vitamin and ZInc = One Tab
Amino Acids=Send tab
Vit C and E = Third Tab
Calcium = Fourth
Hypertension one = Fifth.
Yes I hve pregnancy induced Hypertension. Also I am NOT anaemic. But my last baby could not survive becuse of fetal distress and asphyxia. Also, my doc said that hypertension can reduce baby's growth, hence I need amino acids. Lets see I feel sick to pop so many pills. WOuld ask her tor educe a few in my next appointment.

This is just from my own experience, and I don't know your medical history, but a prenatal vitamin should provide you with all of your daily needs unless you have a deficiency. You might ask your doctor about them. If you feel out of it after taking all of them together, call your pharmacist. They will be able to tell you if they are reacting to each other.

You are probably very anemic - that's why you need the extra
vitamins/minerals.
1] keep taking the vitamins/minerals until doc says to stop
2] eat a well balanced diet, including 300 extra calories a day of good quality food
3] avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food
The goal here is a healthy baby, and safe delivery for you and baby - so follow doc's advice.

Wow- I myself personally never had to take that much, so I'm probably not the best to answer.
Did your doctor discuss why she was prescribing all of this to you?
Seems odd that in addition to prenatals you would have to take all of that too- perhaps your prenatals aren't really good because they should give you everything you would need, but if your doctor told you to take all those other things I guess I would trust that.
Are you getting these things from your doctors office or did she just give you instructions to get all these things from your local pharmacy/store?
Is there something else that you have that would require you to take all of this?

that's too much. any multivitamin pill such as clusivol OB has adequate essential vitamins that any pregnant woman needs. sometimes, amino acids are added to the usual multivitamins if the baby is small for its age, which sometimes occur when you have hypertension. if you are in doubt about your doctor's management, you better find another doctor whom you can trust .

I am not sure what would be too much for you. As far as vitamins, my doctor prescribed one prenatal multivitamin for me to take daily when I was pregnant. Hope this helps!

that sounds weird, but then again, i'm not a dr. i was taking an OTC prenatal, then expecta, a DHA (Omega-3) supplement, but now my prescription prenatal has DHA in it. unless you have some kind of condition you didn't mention, i'd find out why you have to pop so many pills.

that seems like a lot... one good prenatel vitamin plus good nutrician should be plenty... seems like overkill..
keep in mind too mush of a good thing can actually be bad for you..
maybe call another doc, and get a second opinion.. again this seems a bit much....
