Why is it that educated people can not believe in God, just because science can not prove or DISPROVE His existence, or explain how He can perform the great miracle of creation.? Science has never disproved anything in the bible and in fact archeology has actually proven that many of the people and places had actually existed. Do you honestly think, that all of creation is just a coincidence. Look at nature itself and how everything interacts with one another. How one small element effects another. Why do animals inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide and plants take in carbon dioxide and put off oxygen. This has to be of intelligent design. I have often thought that the existence of God is just wishful thinking, man's desire for some sort of immortality and a reason for being. Without some type of belief system, there is no hope. Before you draw any conclusions that I am some Christian lunatic or some type of zealot, please do a little research. Visit a website called drgenescott.com. Dr. Scott was a professor @ Stanford University and was originally instructed by his professors that God's existence was just wishful thinking. Unfortunately the printed version of this lecture is not currently on the website, you may purchase a CD of a lecture called the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Well worth the $15.00 investment. View it with an open mind and draw your own conclusions! Another website to visit is everystudent.com and view their six compelling reasons for the belief in the existence of God.
As for electing officials, it's not a matter of education or intelligence as to whether or not they have a belief system or not. It does however reflect some type of moral character that is sorely lacking in this country. This country was in fact, founded on religious freedom, and the seperation of church & state was to prevent interference of the government in religion. Somehow today's society has gotten this backwards.

I think what you are getting at is the decision making process that a president might go through .
As we know Bush prayed for guidance about the invasion of Iraq .

Since I do not believe anyone is able to answer that prayer ,then you can imagine I was stunned that Bush's God seemed to support his position .

I wonder if faced with other decisions if God is making the right ones .

Since Bush can not know if it is God or the Devil answering then how come he can base a decision on a coin toss which is basically what it is .

I want a leader that relies on facts and a well thought out plan and not some prayer .

As a strong swimmer ,I was once caught in a rip tide , but managed to swim to shore when I did as I learned to swim parallel to the beach and then try to swim to shore .

I tell this story two ways .

One is , I was being pulled out and struggling to swim back in when I layed back and asked God for the strength to make it back in because I wanted to live and had been so faithful that I was sure he had a better plan for my life . I needed him to give me the strength to make it back and sure enough he saved me that day .

That is the story I tell to people of faith to create some common ground between us .

The other story is I did as I was taught and survived a possible tragic event that could have resulted in my drowning .

This is to let people know that the rules have been established for your safety and pay attention because what you need to learn is important .

Since God does not exist it is hard for me to accept a leader who claims to believe in him if he does not .

If he does then we are in serious trouble because to date not once can it be shown that prayer or the hand of God has actually saved anyone .

I want an educated person to lead this nation forward and not some God loving salesman who trades on that faith based garbage that God has a plan for each of us .

You are making a generalization here. Yes, we should elect an educated person but the educated person/no belief in god scenario is not always true.

Then where do "educated" people think all this stuff surrounding them came from??? Okay so a volatile mixture of gasses exploded billions of years ago and magically formed solid matter, where did the gasses come from? How did this solid matter go from not having life at all to one of the rocks magically coming to life???

Everyone realizes that at some point in history there was nothing and then there was something. Surly there are no truly "educated" people that think something can appear from absolutely nothing without help that doesn't conform to the laws of physics. It just isn't logical.

The great majority of educated people do believe in God. What they don't beleive is the sick, corrupt political ideology that the religious right have substitutedfor true Christianity.

Nor does any other decent person, whatever their education.

An educated person can believe in God. For example Judaism allows its followers to question God.

What we should do is elect someone for their capabilities, not whether they believe in god or not. Personally I have had enough of religion in politics, it does nothing but divide our country even more. How can these people be so slimy most of the time they are in Washington but every election cycle they try to outdo each other with christian values and morals?

Educated persons can , will and do believe in God. The educated persons who do not believe in God are troubled by "intelluctual spirits" connected to the darkness kingdom. Satan and his kingdom have assignments against believers in Jesus Christ, (whom belong to the kingdom of God and of Christ). Their goal is to steal, kill and to destroy the believer. The goal is to battle for our minds and the battle is in our minds. Believers also have minds and they are educated. So education does not stop faith. It can hinder. The carnal or unsaved and unrepented mind can not conceive the things of the Spirit or saved renewed holy spirit filled mind (as the believer in Jesus Christ has). Believers should not elect officials based on intellectual education alone. Look for the fruit of the Spirit and evidence in a person's life; all of their life.

I have two undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology. I have a Master's in Biochemistry. I graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center...

I believe in God.

In fact, my study of science and medicine reinforce my belief in God.

Most of my "educated" friends believe in God as well.

Please list for me the number of people, by name, who have been elected to public office in this country without an education.

Electing an intelligent person that truly cares about the persons in the country is more important than praying to Bal or the Dark Lords daily.
