Michigan is always overrated, along with Notre Dame.

Alot of people didnt have Michigan in the Top 10 but the one that counts had them at number 5. It is rare for a 1-aa to beat a 1-a school who is in the top 25. Also Michigan was a contender for the BCS National Championship so you wouldnt think that they would lose to a 1-aa school. You would think that it would be Ohio State or some other large school to beat them this season.

Well last I payed attention, and I don't pay much attention to College so don't hold me beyond general knowledge, was in the Bowl game against USC. They were there talking about how Michigan had such a great recruiting class for this year and that Michigan could be Number one for the first week. So that's a START of the issue, at least when it is the form of casual fans. Second is the people that only see a Division 1AA(or FCS for those that want to get into the new names) beat a Division 1A(FBS) team. They don't pay any attention to the fact that it was the two time defending Division 1AA champ. Sure it is still a fall for Michigan to lose to them, but to act like they lost to some unheard of team is wrong. Basically though it comes down to Division 1A teams AREN'T SUPPOSED TO LOSE to Division 1AA teams. Sure Michigan took the best of the best of the Division 1AA, and that was their mistake. They wanted a tune-up game and wanted to show off by beating the champs of Division 1AA, you know say yeah but at least we played Champs.

Any sportswriter who didn't have Michigan in their top 10 is a fool. People shouldn't be too surprised because Appl. State has a great football program. They are the two time defending division1aa national champions.. ..

I don't know which writers You are referring to but, MICHIGAN, was ranked #5, in the nation and, NO division 1 AA school had EVER beaten a program ranked in the AP top 25. thats why everyone was, so surprised. also, the writers are only one part of the poll. theres also, the coaches.

Question of the day:Why isn't Tiger woods number one, he's like a robot when he talks and just an all around sleaze bag. Where's Rodger Clemens and Barry Bonds, shouldn't they be on the list too? AL Davis is a little too high for my liking, I don't like him, but somehow he should be in the top 8 not in the top 2, a little surprising say the least. The rest I can agree with, switch a few names around here and there...

I knew Michigan was going to suck this year. I did not know however that they would lose to App. St. at home!! I think the big time teams are always ranked high at the beginning of the year mostly due to the top notch recruits they get.

Heres the truth. EVERYBODY knew that Michigans defense is what it turned out to be. Very slow, heavy footed. I don't know why all the Michigan fans were complaning if they wern't in the top 5 rankings.

Why are people surprised? Thats because Michigan is a DIV-I school who was in everyone's Top 25. So a loss like this is shocking.

The surprise is that Appalachin State not only should have lost to Michigan, but they should have lost big. Div-1AA schools are not suppose to be able to beat Div-1A schools.
