It will take @ least 2 weeks before it can get settled in. You shouldn't handle it during that time. Cricket bites are ok but only when nothing else is available. Leos are nocturnal so they are more active @ night. your light bulb is alright.

Good Luck :D

Give him at least a week to settle into his new home before handling him. They do get stressed out easily. Gecko bites are not a good diet choice. He needs tiny crickets, no bigger than the space between his eyes, and small mealies. The black bulb is not a good heat source. You need an under the tank heating mat--it sticks to the tank on the outside. Leos need belly warmth in order to digest properly. Do not use any kind of sand or other loose substrate, no matter what the pet store tells you! He also needs 3 hides--one on the cool side, one on the warm (heat mat) side, and a moist hide on the warm side to assist with shedding. Insects need to be dusted with proper vitamins. He also needs a dish of pure calcium in his cage, and a small bowl of water. Please see these links for complete info.
