It's a good touring bike with both good and bad points. Great fuel mileage and high gear is a true overdrive, turning around 2,800 rpm at 60 mph for a relaxed ride. Because of that, really fast accelleration for rapid passing will require a downshift. Accelleration in the first three gears is VERY quick. Seat comfort seems to depend upon the individual, but a good sheepskin cover is a plus on any bike. Lots of luggage room but loosing a saddlebag lid seems common. Don't know if that's loose latches or operator failure. Some people speak of wind turbulance for the passenger but the addition of wind wings will help. Some also note the primary gear whine...that also seems to vary depending upon the individual bike. Good stereo system. Lightwweight compared to many big touring bikes and pretty nimble. Some also note a slight front end wiggle at times....some claim a fork brace helps, others a tire or air pressure change helps. Nothing dangerous, but when you have a bike that's smooth and unobtrusive, you notice little things like that. The first '86 models had problems with the timing advancer, but those were changed in '87. A good bike with lots of parts available and good rider support groups. In short, not nearly so plush as a 1500-1800cc Gold Wing, but much more versatile because of light weight and agility and easier to manuver around town. They are known for durability and 150,000 miles or more without any major engine work is very common.
