It's supposed to be government of the people, by the people, for the people.

But we have become far too apathetic. We demand--but don't get--government FOR the people. It doesn't work that way. If we want government for the people--it will only come from government BY the people.

And that's more than maybe shodwing up on election day--if we don't have something else we'd rather do. Voting is only the start. If you/we want government for the people--make your representatives aware of wht you think. Get out and work on political campaigns.

You don't like what corporations are doing? But how many times have you--have any of us--shown up for a public meeting on zoning, city planning, etc? The corporation reps are there--and they're usually the only ones.

Government for the people requires government by the people--and tha trequires effort and committment.

Of course the corporations have a huge impact in the govt. There is a way that the people can make a difference, though. It is called standing together for a vote.

For example...one of the major issues in the next election will be illegal immigration. Over 80% of Americans say that they want no amnesty of any kind. If those same 80% contacted Congress and told them that any who vote in favor will be voted against, AND FOLLOW THROUGH...and start doing this will all major issues, then they would start representing the people again, or they would all have very short terms in office.

I think CEO's should do what most small business owners do: plow a big chunk of what they earn back into the company to be able to hire more people at a decent wage with healthcare coverage and benifits, make a better product at a lower price, and expand their business, thereby hiring more people, etc.
Big corp. CEO's are just too greedy.
I think this especially applies to drug company CEO's.

It has become a government of lobbyist. The bigger the lobby, the more money the lobby, the more influence of the lobby. While lobbying organizations have held a valid place in government (organized representation of a group of citizens opinion on legislation); it appears to have outgrown it's purpose.
Perhaps it is time to no longer permit lobbying groups from a)contributing to campaigns b) talking to government officials c)having easy access to Washington. Allow them to organize writing campaigns of citizens, monitor activities in Washington-but little else.

Congress calls the shots and it is up to the President to check their abuses. I would take my cases to the people. Political suicide, but it is the right thing to do.

Generally speaking, corporations (big and small) help to make this country great. Capitalism is a great thing.

Exaclty, the average american does all the work and these pricks just roll in the profit from it. It's a seriously flawed system and it will come to an abrupt end in the near future.

If you feel that your elected leaders are being run by corporate America, then exercise your right to vote and get them out of office.

In America, we allow individual corporations to make those decisions.

The board members must think these guys are worth it although I agree with you that they aren't.

It's not up to the government to tell people how much they can pay for a CEO.

And who employs you? Without the corporations, you'd starve. You've forgotten (or were never taught) the saying about biting the hand that feeds you.
