He'll be fine. It'll be an adjusment, because all schools are different. I live in NY and I can't believe how different schools are in neighboring towns!

One thing I can account for is that there are many nice students in all schools. All your son needs to do is to meet any attempt at a friendship head-on. If he thwarts them and acts uninterested, eventually people will stop talking to him. But as long as he returns the gesture, he should be fine.

That's how resilent students are. He probably won't even have to introduce himself first. I am a senior this year and am STILL making new friends. Plus, I've realized that new kids actually have become quite popular.

Good luck, and tell him to accept the change as best as he can!

Of course it won't be the same. It will be new and different and he should look upon the whole experience as an adventure. He will meet new people and if he approaches them in a friendly fashion, they will respond accordingly. If he already has friends in his present school, he will make friends at the new school too. People are more or less the same wherever you go. Some are great and a few are horrible. The move will be good for him. It will teach him how to deal with new situations.

Not at all. Once he gets his dog sled tied next to the cars and brings his walrus sandwich to lunch all the kids will think he's neat. Serious, they most likely won't even know there's a new kid because most of them will be new to each other as it stands.

he should have no problem at all. kids here are always waiting to be the first in line to be a new students best friend. and all of them like to hear about where they have just moved from and how different their old school might have been from theirs. tell him not to worry he will really like it here. i have 3 children myself my oldest is 18 and not in school anymore but i have one in middle school and one in his 1st year of high school. he will have fun comparing the differences. and their just children like him they will be no different here than there.
