Relocate the router if possible or purchase a Range Extender.

You want to check to see if your current router supports "Bridging" Then you will want to buy another AP, no an AP/router. You don't need another router. Linksys is very common brand. Also D/L "netstumbler" and check your Signal with it. You your looking to keep your signal no weaker then -72. So a -80 is to weak and will have poor performance.

First try putting the router as physically high and central to the house as you can.

You can also buy something called a wireless access point, which can be used to expand your network.

Buy a cheap wireless router and set it up (follow instructions) as a wireless bridge instead of a wireless router.
