I agree mate, I don't have any kids yet but at the moment everything I earn goes on tax, bill, mortgage, I am left with nothing!! It's like working for them without getting anything! Feels like slavery This country does suck! Bunch of suckers!!! On the other hand there are people committing fraud through benefits, which are basically living off us! How unfair is it?!

I'm on 20 years or more of saying money is the root of all evil and I'm not yet 40, so you can see I started feeling that way in my teens.

The simple truth is that there is enough "wealth" out there for everyone to have everything they want, but the thing is the 5% who have 90% of the weath are greedy and won't share, even though it means they would never have to be deprived.

And back to school time is the same everywhere for insane cost now. I read in the paper last week (in Montreal) that in one part of Canada kids have to show up with their own year's supply of toilet paper!!!

i do not think money is evil, it is a thing, it is how we use it that is, i do agree that many things are too expensive, so as we make more money, it takes more
but part of that is our fault, as we decide how to spend our money, what we cant live without etc
for example, when my child was young, we didnt have cable tv, it wasnt on the list of necessities, i also didnt have a cell phone, i could live without it, but i did have a computer and net connection,
all i can say is that with children, plan for the money to go out about as fast as you can take it in, if you are not rich!
console yourself with the fact that your children will probably do better then the children of those struggling less then you

I agree with you. Unfortunately a lot of us are victims of the consumer capitalist mindset that says, "I have, therefore I am." It took me a long time to let go of my need for money. We all have a certain standard of living that we are used to. The media brainwashes society by advertising products that you "have to have." Honestly, do we really "need" 20 different t-shirts or 10 different pants or a cell phone with 5 megapixels? Of course not. But as we continue to buy into society telling us to be upwardly mobile, then we will continue to consume the latest and greatest. We could put the grocery stores out of business if we just planted our own fruits and vegetables.

'Life' doesn't cost so much. You chose your life. You chose to live in a country that has a higher standard of living. You chose materialism. It costs so much because you like money. If you didn't care about nice things, you could live for a fraction of the price. Be thankful that you can make that choice. BILLIONS of people DON'T have that choice. It's made for them. They live in 2nd and 3rd world nations and have NO chance at the opportunities you have. They couldn't concieve of living the life that you have, and certainly wouldn't be coming on the internet to complain about it.

Sorry to be so harsh with my reply, but if you don't learn to give thanks for what you have...you might as well not have it.

Don't get me wrong but I think its all about choice. Getting a good paying job is already a choice. If you dont get a good job because of low educational background, getting the best out of your college education is also a choice. Life doesn't cost much. Do you really believe life has a price? You know, it's just my opinion.

Amazing. I thought you were going to use $130.00.

I guess it's like that everywhere.

What you need to do is develop a liveable budget that you feel comfortable with.

Work it out, and shop for bargains.

EVERYONE, everywhere is underpaid except those we hardly see who run corporations and get paid in stock bonuses instead of measily paychecks.

So, welcome to the land of crappy jobs, even though you must be from "across the pond".

Because people produce things to make money, so they can buy other things. They sell these things to people that need / want them, so they can buy things, and it keeps going round and round like that. People had to be paid to make the uniform, people had to be paid to make the material, they have to sell the uniforms so they can pay the people who worked to make them.
