Liberal. But to be specific, classical liberal, not modern social liberal.

Depends how people define patriotism. Some people seem to define it as "close minded" and "USA is always right." I think that is the wrong mentality. Sometimes patriotism is exposing what is wrong with current ideologies that contradict the original intent of the Constitution and the founding fathers. People confuse politicians, parties, with ideology. To me, patriotism is about supporting the original intent in ideology that formed the United States of America. So if I say I support the USA, then I am saying the idea of USA. I'll reject or support policies from any party based on that idea.

As such, I prefer to stay out of the individual shortcomings. I don't see how bashing an individual politicians problems is productive. I'd rather discuss policies. That doesn't mean the indiscretions should be dismissed, indeed, if illegal, prosecute. I just don't see how many a political issue out of it is patriotic.

Anyway, patriotism is good, if the intent is the promotion of the idea of USA.

We ALL love our country. We all feel patriotic. We have different points of view. Cons are no better than Libs when it comes to patriotism.

I'd say I'm just plain disgusted with politics in America.

Patriotism is just another way to say that you are closed minded. I don't blindly support ANY view. My country is wrong quite often. I don't see a need to 'support the troops' when I disagree with what they are doing.
