There are a whole range of deterrents people put down the mole run such as: bits of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, Garlic, Chilli powder, & Mothballs. I like the idea that the whirlygigs's thumping may be able to chase them away.
Many articles say using Castor oil is effective. Mix up a spray of 3 parts castor oil to 1 part dish soap; use 4 tablespoons of this concoction in a gallon of water, and soak the tunnels and the entrances.
If you have a lot of moles, you probably have an oversupply of grubs and bugs.

Elimination the mole's food source...grubs...should do the trick for the long term. I know you this isn't "homemade" but it would help a lot if you spread a quality grub control on your lawn. "The idea is to kill the grubs to make your yard less like a mole fast food drive through."

Grub control IS the solution for long-term control.
In the meantime, short term solutions may help. Some people pour cat litter or human hair clippings into molehills & refill them until signs of the mole have disappeared. Planting chocolate lilies or “skunk lilies” around your yard can help keep moles away. The bulbs and flowers of this flower have a terrible, strong odor and moles find it distasteful. Try planting a few bulbs on each side of the yard and garden. Garlic is also a plant that moles will avoid so try planting some here and there around your property.

Good luck!! Hope this is helpful.

become the pesticide Grubex? additionally, they make pellets (poison) which you place into the holes then conceal with a rock. And a style of seize-you stamp down a tunnel, whilst it looks returned, this is considered "lively". You stamp it down one greater time, push the seize down into that tunnel and set it. whilst the mole pushes by using it returned, the seize will kill it. Moles are very territorial and easily one mole could have an entire backyard (and do all that injury!). Grubex works extremely nicely yet you need to use it always because of the fact in the experience that your associates do not, once you do away with 1 mole, yet another will come alongside very quickly from their backyard. solid success!

I suggest a female cat. We have an acre and lots of moles, but our cat clears it up by hunting them. She has the patience to watch the holes. She is cheap to keep as well.
You will want to rid yourself of these as they draw snakes.
Also, if you feed the birds, they will eat the bugs. I keep a feeder on the tree and draw the birds to my yard. They really help with insect control.

actually, they'd prefer your worms to the grubs... invasions are cyclical.... they'll be at your house this year and your neighbor's next.... might not drop by your place again for several years.... easier to just wait it out.... plant Castor Bean plants on one side of the yard and it will convince them to move to the other side of the yard, and on to the neighbor's.... be careful of the plants with kiddies.. they're right nasty poisons.....
