Insiders say that a $20,000 base model production car could use an inexpensive V-8 (the LS2 would come in a costlier model), so a V-6 version would be offered only to make the car easier to insure. The real car would have smaller wheels, but the overall diameter of the tires wouldn't be much changed. GM vice-chairman and product czar Bob Lutz apparently loves it and joked on the show stand "all I have to do is persuade this man"--referring to GM CEO Rick Wagoner--"to pay for it."

Essentially a Sigma GM platform with the optional 380 hp LS-2 engine and V-6 standard. rumors that it will have 5 speed automatic trans and rumors about no manual. we will have to wait. I was at the roll out at Detroit auto show in 2006. Dodge Challenger was there and haven't seen any of those 2008 hemi challengers yet? It is so hard to get a high powered sedan in the line up because of corporate average fuel economy standards. GM likes the money they make on Yukon's Denali's and Escalade's.... Sell one Camaro at $38,000 and add on dealer mark up you will be lucky to drive away for $44,000 and insurance?
