Frankly, there must be a considerable amount of intervention and contarian influence for someone to overcome the bias that permeates their every media and educational message since early childhood...the rank and file of mainstream institutions such as CNN, The New York Times, the BBC, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, Harvard University, Yale University, the entire "Ivy League", most state and private universities/colleges and public elementary and high schools have all admitted that they are predominantly cloisters of propaganda and indoctrination in the liberal agenda, and overwhelmingly beholden to the Democrat party.

Fox News has been shown to have a miniscule amount of conservative bias, compared to the heavy-left bias of the rest of the media.

How can one not consider his/her worldview to be somewhat distorted and perverted by Marxism when realizing all the above? Unless one makes a deliberate effort to seek alternative sources of info (talk radio, etc.)...

My source on the bias-levels of the various major news networks is an exhaustive scientific study by UCLA.

80-90% of these media and "educational" institutions identify THEMSELVES as liberal Democrats. That's my source! Numerous surveys and studies have exposed this glaring imbalance.

As a current college student now, I can tell you for a fact there is a liberal bias in higher education. That being said, these liberals are so used to their students capitulating to their beliefs that when a student challenges them, they are generally dumbfounded and retaliate instead of debate.

One only has to realise that the Democratic platform is but a socialist platform. Once you realize that, their motives become clear.

*EDIT*

For the poster "justagirlwhatever" above me, The O'Reilly Factor is not a NEWS SHOW. It is a political COMMENTARY. He is not a REPUBLICAN. His show is about Conservative versus Liberal. Also the study you pointed out was flawed and that has been PROVEN. Biden tried to use some talking points from that "study" or what I would call propoganda and got PWNED in the debate.

That's a great question since I also do not really understand how a republican can be liberal or a democrat conservative. In my opinion, all republicans are conservative, but it looks like there are some people who do not think so. I guess that liberal republican is somebody who leans towards some liberal stuff that most republicans do not approve. Now, McCain is called "liberal" because: -he is far less religious than most conservatives (like Huckabee) -in 2005 he opposed a federal gay-marriage ban -he is farther Left on the immigration than most republicans

Sure CNN, The New York Times, the BBC, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, Harvard University, Yale University, the entire "Ivy League", most state and private universities/colleges and public elementary and high schools are ALL wrong and part of a communist conspiracy.
I think not.Let in some fresh air. It's the far right who are being brainwashed daily by fox news and talk radio.
The left has been right(as in correct)for decades now.

The Liberal Media myth is a propaganda tool employed by conservative radio hosts, columnists and pundits as a convenient excuse why after 20 years their ideology has failed to convince the public at large, and as a memetic inocculation of the public against the evidence that the media bias is in fact a conservative one.
Not only does the liberal media claim have no basis in fact, it also does not make sense considering the issues of media ownership and influence of advertisers. Most media outlets are owned by a handful of conservative corporations and individuals, and funded by usually economically conservative advertisers who have no need for an educated, alert, independent and critical citizenry. What they need is a dumb, bored, cynical and apathetic public that has abandoned all critical faculties and is easily distracted by celebrity gossip and mindless sports games. A public that will believe anything it is told, or nothing at all, which amounts to the same end result. This pro-corporate conservative bias of the media is well-documented and shows itself in consistent under-reporting or ignoring of any information that would lead people to question the fundamental status quo.

How weak-willed do you think your fellow citizens are, if they can be "brainwashed" into their political beliefs?

While people *may* be exposed to more liberal beliefs when in college, isn't it as likely that they're simply exposed to a more diverse spectrum of beliefs in college than they would get in their more limited home-town, family environment? My college just had their Club Expo for the start of the academic year, introducing students to the various student organizations, and we've got organizations for college Republicans as well as college Democrats, for two different Christian clubs as well as a Non-Traditional Religions club, etc. If you equate having more choices with liberalism, then that may be the issue--but should any of us discourage choice or diversity of experience? Isn't a single-focus view more distorted (or, as you put it, "perverted") than a view that includes a greater spectrum of the reality that's out there?

As for the media being Democratic, good arguments have been made that the media's main bias is what will draw viewers--otherwise the Monica Lewinsky story would not have dominated our TV's for over a year.

In any case, liberalism isn't Marxism. If you don't know the difference, perhaps you should pursue more college yourself.

I would submit that the opposite is true, and offer exactly as many sources for my information as you do for yours.

You can phrase your point in flowery language, but without a source, or cited examples, you are merely regurgitating the rhetoric that every conservative talk radio host rambles on about. Your 'alternative sources' are no less biased than the 'liberal' press. Everyone has an agenda. The 'liberal' press has supported Bush for years. Only now that public opinion is turning on the war is the press giving thier coverage an 'anti-war' slant.

Use your head. The old adage that the 'rich get richer' is much more indicitive of Amercan politics than some great left wing conspiracy to pollute children's minds. As I said, everyone has an agenda.

I was once in the Liberal corner, but that was when I was very young and impressionable. I grew up and learned that Socialism is not the ideal. Most of the media and colleges are Liberal biased. It is refreshing to know that there are now other views in the media like Fox that show both sides of an issue.

Almost all the talk radio hosts are to the right of Genghis Khan!

Just because you disagree with what they are saying does not make them biased. Perhaps you have a closed mind.

And as usual, a lot of hype, but no facts, especially since Rupert Murdoch owns much of the empire!

Your anti-liberal bias is showing! Too bad it has less of a foundation than Bush's battle plan in Iraq!

Where did you get your percentage, Fox news?

PROOF! NOT RHETORIC!

Most of the rest get on Welfare, and stay Liberals.

I ESCAPED!!!

I am a conservative. My political views came with experience. The left wing liberal loonies cannot persuade me, by any means, that their ideas have merit.
