After all, she's still being discussed daily in here isn't she?
They have kept the story in the media haven't they?

Ok so they've copped for some flak too but nobody has forgotten that little girls name.

Andy I found your comment in another post about he who holds his head above the parapet being shot at very good too and it does apply in this case.
The McC's may not say her name very often, but we do!

It has been successful to a certain extent - the possible sightings of Madeleine for example; although it hasn't been her, I think it encourages people to be more aware.

At the end of the day though, the only success will be if she is found alive and well, and unfortunately I just don't think this is now going to happen.

Well, it's hard to know really. In some regards, yes the "campaign" has been successful in that Madeleine is being discussed constantly all around the world - the media coverage has been beyond anyone's wildest dreams - and you are right, good or bad press, doesn't matter really as long as people talk about her...BUT I wonder if whoever kidnapped her (if she was kidnapped) panicked when the media maelstrom began and murdered her rather than keep her alive in case they were caught? We may never know.

what does it matter if madeleine is being discussed here?. it would be most important if it came from her parents and not strangers. then again, since she's been missing the mccann's have relied on the public to do the searching for them so, why not the mentioning of her name?.

I have to disagree a wee bit Barbie my friend, Maddy hardly gets a mention, the parents are the headlines these days. I have hardly heard a word about the search lately but I've heard plenty about the parents.

Edit; I hope nobody EVER forgets the wee one's name.

Edit2, Point taken, any publicity is good publicity for the wee girl, I just can't help feeling disgust for someone who neglects there kids for a night on the lash in aholiday resort.

Yes it has, but not in finding her. I still cant come to terms on how they could have left their children in the first place. I just hope and pray that Maddie is not being abused by some one out there.

Spot on Barbie!

The campaign, of course, was to find Madeleine.
Now, one of the ways to search for her, as advised, was to spread awareness about her.
Even the die-hard antis have to admit that the McCanns have done a darn good job spreading awareness about their Madeleine.

The fact that you & i, oceans apart, discuss that precious little child daily, if proof enough...

no i disagree. firstly its not the sort of campaign that emphasised 'searching' for her, ie, people being persuaded to talk to police about people they might have known and unfortunately due to the legality of information laws in portugual, people who were int he vicinity at the time, dont really know what to look for, or what to think about remembering that they saw. we dont know what time she was taken because we dont know what time she was last checked on or by who. we dont know whether the doors were locked or not, so people around at the time dont know whether the place was broken into, are they looking for someone with a child asleep or awake. In addition as someone else said, its about them, not about her, we dont know a great deal about her and her life. in addtion, they wouldnt have needed money to put her in the public eye
