Does it seem that the internet is becoming the new way to meet people?

Does it seem that it is becoming more and more difficult to meet real people in real life?

How expensive , for example , is it to go to the pub now and drink?

and you cant even smoke there now?

I work full time in an office FILLED with people (some I'm even friends with). I also take fun classes like guitar classes and cooking classes, and attend seminars locally.

(*shrug*) I don't think meeting people via the Internet is "new" any more. I also think it's no more safe than meeting people in a bar or a convention for fruit loops and nut jobs.

It was always difficult to meet people. You have to just do things you enjoy and see if you run into like-minded people.

I haven't been in a pub in years. Even since they banned smoking in some of them, I have no interest in going. I do miss playing pool and darts, though.

If you don't know how much a pint is then I would suggest you go out pronto. I meet people in the usual way, by socialising! Getting out there and being friendly. I have nothing against making new friends on the computer but, and its a big but, typing is not like having a chat! Face to face interaction is the only way you can gauge someones emotions, feelings, laughter or sadness. I don't go out with the sole aim of "meeting people", it just happens. The older you get the less you worry what people think and the easier it gets. Go out, meet some friends and have a laugh! Its the simplest thing in the world.

Be realistic hun, any time you go out you can meet people. I think the Internet has become a new tool, a new forum to get to know people, but there is no set way. YOU can meet them at the grocery store, the park, at work, running errands, so dont look at it as though you must meet someone at a pub. Its a big wide world. Go to the gym, take classes, get out there and mingle in fairs and gatherings, protest, look up your community events, check out pet play dates...there is an unending amount of get togethers for everything under the sun, I bet if you looked online you could find a group that gets together for tea and crumpets...I would love to show up as a guest with a spike punk hairdo with a studded leather jacket...that would be kind of illuminating...hehe, OK, Take Care, get out and meet someone silly.-Rachel.

I think you can smoke in some bars. You can't where I live now.

Bars are a cool way to chill but it is what it is and pretty limited.

I've met a few women via internet since work relationships have a decent chance of becoming Jerry Springer prime time.

Otherwise you can just meet people doing social stuff.

The internet a good way to meet people these days and it is on your terms hun. It gets on my nerves when I go out with my Friends on a Sat eve, and guys keep trying to hit on us, we are out for some fun....not to pull. On the net I can sort and filter the pervs and chat to decent people.
If you want to meet people real time hun, you ahve to get out there, join a gym prehapes? or a club somthing where you can meet people with similar interest x

Nah, you're right mate, but it doesn't have to be that way - do you work? That's a tried and true method of meeting people.

If not, get a job! the other possibility is hobbies or interests ... mmm .... but maybe that's Y!A mmm.

This is my life - kitchen, computer and bed, but I am a mother. Never a dull moment untill I get on here. The internet makes me relax and zone out.
