Having a terrible nightmare.
If I wake up from an amazing dream I at least have the memory of the dream.

having a terrible nightmare. nightmares stick with you for a longer time than waking from an amazing dream. nightmares wouldn't be nightmares if they were somehow resolved, so it's a bad feeling that leaves you hanging. a lot of times it's not meant to give you strength either so it's a lot of negatives piling up. on the otherhand, waking from an A dream leaves this bitter sweet feeling like, dang, that would've been nice. but at least what you would remember is the good times.
seriously, do people still complain about leaving disneyland or do they complain more about the time their car broke down? fact is, negative things stick because we expect positive things to happen.

Waking up from a nightmare. I truly hate the feeling of my heart pounding in my chest. It's bad to wake from an amazing dream, but at least you can remember it and smile.

a terrible nightmare...because unlike some people's mine feel so real that i can't go back to sleep. i don't forget nightmares that i've had. an amazing dream would be awesome and all that waking up from one isnt bad to me.
nightmares are more profound for me like being chased around by Michael Myers & seeing my friends get killed and i'm hiding in the only place i can think of. it felt so real i could hardly breath. having something resembling Freddy Krueger come out from under my bed and rip it up to shreds...that was when i was a kid. i still remember falling out of the top bunk of my bed and not sleeping for the rest of the night. (yep nightmares)

I get your point. It sucks to wake up from a great dream, and it also sucks to have a horrible nightmare that you need 30 minutes to convince yourself wasn't real. Hard choice, but I would say waking up from a horrible nightmare. That way, you know in time that something terrrible didnt' happen. To wake up from an amazing dream to find it wasn't real is very disappointing.

Waking up from an amazing dream. I dreamt I had won the lottery and when I woke up it took 3 seconds to realize it didn't happen. Greater disappointment that way than to wake up from a nightmare.

Waking up from an amazing dream. Why? Because after a scary dream you feel relief, and maybe a bit of anxiety due to the fact that you woke up and it didn't happen. However, when you wake up from an amazing dream in which your aspirations were reality, and you had things we can't dream of having in reality, the disappointment hurts. It hurts a lot.

Terrible nightmare, because I always wake up at around 2 in the morning, then I can't fall back asleep.

waking up from an amazing dream. If you have a nightmare, you get over it. But if you have a great dream, you either never figure out how it ends, or you realize that Utopia doesn't exist anywhere, but in your dreams.
