We vilified our French & German allies for not wanting in on this war( how right they were). We heaped scorn on the Spanish when they excercised their right to vote to withdraw from a war their former president had entered against the overwhelming wish of the people. Now we are complaining about the British withdrawal. These countries pointed out that this war would increase terrorism ,strengthen popular support in the Muslim world for extremism and make it impossible for the voice of moderate Islam to be heard. They have been proven correct on all counts.

The war has benefited one country only. This country has been clamouring for another war - on Iran. However, this country doesn´t have a single soldier fighting in Iraq and will send none to Iran. Which country? Well, try ¨our only true ally¨in the middle east.
Why isn´t it rattling its nuclear sabres( it DOES have nuclear weapons) at Iran? Perhaps because it knows it can get us to do the dirty work for it as usual.

Ha!Ha!Ha! You have been a bit too subtle for some people.
I know what you are asking !
You are saying very cleverly that it is Israel who wanted us to get involved in a big way in the middle east and first they pointed us like a bird dog in one direction and now they point us in another...Syria and Iran.
Yes,they have benefited from the Iraq war and yet not one Israeli soldier in Iraq. They get us, the U.S.A., to be their military force.(not to mention the billions in aid and arms we already give them!)
They get the U.S. to scream about nuclear weapons in Iran destabilizing the area but Israel has had nuclear weapons for years(probably paid for by U.S. aid) and the U.S. has never complained.

The only way for the U.S. to go back to being an isolationist country is to bring back the DRAFT! Then you will see that nobody wants these idiotic wars. It will be harder for other countries to get the U.S. to do their dirty work for them.

As long as the U.S, has a voluntary mercenary army that pays its soldiers in lifelong benefits, there will be men and women willing to do any dirty job they are sent to do and it will make it easy for the rest of us to be so patriotic and talk about supporting our troops etc etc. and letting our sleazebag politicians get us involved in wars that are none of our business. We will see draft cards being burnt, our children escaping to Canada and Mexico and our mothers and educators marching in the streets of Washington.

Yes, avoidably, we are doing the "dirty work" of the world, at the cost of our young men and now, women. These people go bravely out to give their very lives and health for the President, as he commands them. Fighting a loosing battle for the freedom of others and, countries that don't seem to care.
I'm sure, without looking into it, these other countries are reaping a benefit without lifting a hand with terrorism.

I'm getting to be a believe of Ross Perot and his Ideas of becoming a "Isolationist Nation" once again, like we were in the 20's and 30's politically, the hell with the world was the motto then.

Bring our troops home, line the borders with them, shoot to kill all druggies who are trying to invade us with their garbage, Stop all boats coming in, and sink, any suspicious ones.

Halt all immigration. Let the world take care of the world. Build up our defense systems so it's an end to no end and, it's the most powerful in the world and, most advanced.
When the hollering and screaming is over in the rest of the world, go out and pick up any pieces left and then rebuild.

Now that Iran has "the bomb" the near east is going to be the next third world war battlefield, I think we should be somewhere else.

The Americans believed once Saddam had fallen then the UN would take over the problem. They are over stretched in Iraq and need assistance.
I doubt they´ll go into Iran for two reasons. They don´t need another Vietnam or Iraq and they must know they would have a tough time, because during the Iraq / Iran war they backed Iraq. Iraq combined with the Might of the USA couldn´t defeat Iran. Going into Iran will be no picnic like Iraq. I don´t think it will happen.

IMO Cowboydoc is wrong. The US military is defending no one's freedom or liberty in Iraq. Saddam never was a threat to anyone outside Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Israel. He was a tyrant for his own people, but now things are much worse for the Iraqi. Thanks to the neo-con gang in WH and its delusions of grandeur.
This war was an idiocy from the very beginning.
