I just measured my blood pressure as

(systolic pressure) 136
(diastolic pressure) 65

Heart Rate: 54bpm

I'm an active 18year old male, I play soccer, indoor soccer and go running every know and then.

I know the systolic pressure shouldn't ideally be that high, and that my heart rate is quite low.
But in comparison to each other, aren't the results contradictory?

Can someone please give me some insight into the measurements and what it implies as to my health.

For a 18 yr old male; B/P of 136/65 and Hr of 54 bpm are within good normal parameters. for a healthy teenager. Because you're active in sports, and jogging; this accounts for the slow heart rate.

This heart rate would prevent the heart from working twice as hard. to deliver oxygen to different parts of the body.

Why then is it healthy to have a low heart rate?"

No one knows for sure, but in the animal kingdom it is observed that animals that have lower heart rates frequently live longer. A famous cardiologist, Dr Sam Levine, is apocryphally quoted as having said that "You only get so many heartbeats".

Athletes because of a good regimen of exercise do have slow heart rates and low or normal blood pressure. This indicate a healthy heart - good cardiac workload and less O2 myocardial consumption. Meaning that the heart doesn't work very hard.to sustain life. Some people in their sixties may have higher blood pressures due to their sedentary lifestyles and diminished physical activity versus those in their twenties. who work-out often.

I was completely dumbfounded when I once took care of one athletic patient who had a heart rate of only 30/per min.

Normal blood pressure ranges from 110 to 150 millimeters (as the heart beats) over 60 to 80 millimeters (as the heart relaxes).

Average Pulse Rates
Adult Males about 72
Adult Females 76 to 80
Newborns up to 140
Children about 90
Elderly 50 to 65

The heart rate is based on the number of contractions of the ventricles (the lower chambers of the heart) esp the left ventricle which is the major pump of the heart.

Physical inactivity has been established as a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and most Americans are not physically active enough to gain any health benefits. Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic dancing, walking or any of dozens of other activities can help your heart. Whether it's included in a structured exercise program or just part of your daily routine, all physical activity adds up to a healthier heart

According to the latest joint American Heart Association/American College of Sports Medicine guidelines on physical activity, all healthy adults ages 18–65 should be getting at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity five days of the week. However, there are additional guidelines for older adults, ages 65 and older, or for those adults aged 50-64 with chronic conditions or physical functional limitations (e.g. arthritis) that affect movement ability or physical fitness

As you point out your systolic blood pressure is a little high.
You should check your blood pressure at different times over a couple of weeks to get a better idea of your blood pressure. One reading doesn't mean much.
Your 54 bpm resting heart rate is indicative of being physically fit

Your bp is normal.
Heart rate is a little low, but I wouldn't worry too much.
Do an hour of active exercise and then take your heart rate. If it is below 75 after an hour of exerting yourself, get to a doctor.

Your fine. If you were not then your doctor would have said so. Healthy fit people have a lower resting heart rate than people who do no exercise.

If you are concerned get a second opinion.
