i would suggest you to remain stick with computer science field, because computer will change it's forms in future but will never be thrown away from human life. years back computer was so big now emerging to mobiles and vision of robots is near to achieve. i can visualize days when there will be hospitals, laws, communities and cities of robot and of course a software or hardware engineer will be in ultimate demand.
There are so many branches of computer science, you should explore them and you will definately find some related to your interest.

There is lots of scope for comp science and information technology candidates in the IT world. Sure after 4 yrs u will get more opportunities in the IT world.
Even Students studying in mechanical, Electrical are interested to have a career in IT industry. So they do course in a institute to have a basic knowledge about computer ot a computer language. So they can answer technically if they are select for IT based companies.
So don’t worry… u can get a job at the end of ur 4th year. More companies are planning to broaden their organization… All the Best

A lot of poor people seem to have kids to earn money. I'm not stereotyping, but people raise kids in terrible, disadvantaged homes and expect those kids to make a living. More often they drop out of school and just rob people to earn money. Maybe I'm biased because I actually have seen this before, and a lot of poor people aren't above defrauding and mooching off people they know for survival. So, I think it's wrong and worse still, it backfires. The cycle can even repeat if young female children are uneducated and get pregnant, which I have also seen.

People often get confused that IT Field will lose its value in due course... Not at all
Whatever field that you take automation is the major key which is done by IT Industries . All the stuffs in the world are not automated so the services of IT INDUSTRIES ARE REQUIRED ALL THE TIME. If you are equipped with the knowledge you will get your job. There are lots of openings in IT Industry
The only criteria here in this field is... You have to have the edge over others by improving your knowledge day by day
Never get worried that IT will lose its fame.. It will never lose its fame and its name

Computer science has defintely more scope than mechanical. But it is not for everyone. You need to be very good academically especially in maths. So choose wisely according to your interests and aptitude .
