The democrats campaigned on stopping the war yet now in command of congress the only actions they've taken are a non-binding protest and a troop SURGE!

They scream healthcare from the roof tops yet the United States is the only western industrial nation without universal healthcare.

They've always been champions of free speech yet wanted to pass an act that would stifle the medium of talk radio in an attempt to silence the conservative voice.

If you consider yourself liberal and are a democrat, please explain...

Your friendly neighborhood moderate (Don't worry the conservative republicans get it in the next question).

What voice? Corporate America has only gotten stronger since the Dems entered office. You can't truly believe that the dems are not on the take with the corporations same as the republicans. The strongest investment in the Clinton portfolio is in an oil company so please...

Because it's the only political party with enough money and power to pose a serious threat to the conservatives.

Believe me, I don't think the Democratic party is perfect. But it's the lesser of two evils. If a political party that was further left than the Democrats came along, that I thought had a realistic chance of winning elections, then I'd go with that party.

The Democrats passed a bill funding our troops subject to a wind down and eventual exit plan in Iraq. The president vetoed it. If the President is so irresponsible as to ignore the will of the people and the order of congress to find a way out of this mess - and insist on fighting his war with or without funding then we cannot stop him. So continuing to support our troops and fund his activities until we regain control of the White House is necessary.
A plan was introduced for universal health care the last time the Dems held congress and the white house. Some elements of the plan proved to be controversial and so prevented it from being passed before the mid term elections. When the Republicans regained the house they made it clear they would not contemplate such a plan. All Dem presidential hopefuls are running on some plan to provide every American with healthcare. This is an issue that will be resolved in the next term.
There is no bill before either house to reintroduce the Fairness Doctrine. This is purely republican scare mongering.
So there you go - I am a liberal looking forward to what will be achieved in the future. And that is why I will be voting Democrat.

the democrats campaigned on changing the strategy of Iraq and holding the bush administration accountable instead of bending over easily like the GOP.

I'm a liberal democrat because i don't want my air polluted, my water contaminated and the food i buy isn't unhealthy. Also, i don't want corporate America who has abundant power (that's how it work in a capitalistic society) abusing the consumers or its employees and the Democrat give the common American a voice by fighting for them.

Because:

1. We can't override any veto of Bush. We don't have the majority to do it.

2. I take it you are talking about the fair doctrine act? Not an attempt to silence, just an attempt to equalize it.

3. Give us back a 2/3 majority vote and health care would be taken care of, as well as many other issues.
