I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage.
The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in "Twister."
I asked the manager what had happened.
He told me that the blonde lady driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.

Perhaps she got confused with using cruise control on a motor home and autopilot in a private airplane, there is a big difference between the two.

This has nothing to do with technology...just stupid actions by stupid people...COMON common sense. Great technology is what gave this lady the chance to live this experience, i am sure she crashed, and the design behind the vehicle is what keeped her alive... no matter what people say technology makes a better future/life. sure some ideas are just silly/stupid( Lexus automated parking, i cant wait till some one leaves the car alone to do this while they leave).

for what i know, 'cruise control' was made to ease our driving, especially on highways so that we don't need to continuously step on the gas pedal, and yes, we still need the brakes in case of emergencies and when we need to slow down...
i don't think they invented the 'cruise control' technology for us to make sandwiches or sleep..do they?? we're not yet in the world like in the sci-fie movies we watched....
