I'd say it was totally normal...most people do their talking inside of their heads rather than verbalise out loud....but it's how we think and make decisions....think about it.

I guess that depends on what her explanation was. Lots of people talk out loud as it helps to get ideas or solve problems. If this one of those imaginary friend things then maybe i'd be a bit more concerned

What is normal? It's probably her way of dealing with some things. What I would be worried about is if she starts to become depressed or even hostile, these are destructive emotions at the best of times.

I think it is normal for some people to talk to themselves when they are very anxious, nervous or rehearsing what they will say to someone ahead of time. Possibly she has many issues in her life and it helps her to talk her issues out loud to herself instead of sharing it with other people.

Quote from Mind fact sheet:"Sometimes when I am thinking deeply about things I find myself talking to myself. Does this mean I am going to lose my mind? My family says talking to yourself is the first sign of madness.
Probably not! At times we all find ourselves voicing thoughts in our head. Most of the time we are not aware of it, because there are so many other things going on. Many people especially speak these thoughts out loud when they are alone.

The reason why some people associate talking to yourself with mental health problems may be because some people who hear voices that others cannot hear may converse or argue with their voices out loud. Others who cannot hear these voices might assume the person is talking to themselves. Sometimes these voices can cause someone to become distressed and so others may link talking to yourself with mental distress."

I would not worry too much unless you see other concerning behaviors that cause a 'red' flag for you. If that does happen I would suggest speaking with a school counselor, a parent (yours) and talk with her.

no big deal, probably leans a little to the unusual side, but nothing to worry about. If your friends answer voice is a different voice than the asker voice, Id say yeah be concerned but otherwise...nah

Yes it is normal. Some people do it all the time to help their thought process. It is kinda like singing in the shower. I bet lots of people have done that.

LOL I talk to myself all the time, I even answer myself. I am my own best friend.

Wait, I swear I'm not crazy.

When you need to start worrying is when she starts arguing with herself and the other one wins.

I dont think its real bad. some people just like to think out loud.
Those people are the ones who should be concerned because sometimes they say stuff out loud before realizing the situation or in her case her surroundings.

shes fine.. its actually healthy to talk to yourself every once in awhile..
if you cant talk to yourself then who can??

Well, let me see. What should I say here? Hmmmm Yes! I think it's normal. What's to be concerned about? I'm normal. Are you normal? I think I'm normal anyway. Could be wrong too. Oh well... doesn't much matter anyway does it?
