Id rather not do your homework for you. Is your class first thing in the morning? Stayed up too late playing video games and now youre desperately trying to finish your homework. Thats funny.

I will do a few and explain the rest:

1. (8-x)(4-5x)= 32 - 44x + 5x²
2. rewrite the whole problem without the parenthesis and combine terms with the same power of x or no x. to get:
17x^2+2x-61
3. base = b, height = b-6, Area = 1/2 bh, plug in the b & b-6 and solve for b, you should get b = 10 or -4 cm, and 10cm is realistic.
4. multiply each term from the first expression by every term in the second, 9y² by y², -6y by y², +9 by y², 9y² by -4, etc...
your result is 9y⁴- 6y³+ 9y² - 36y² + 24y - 36 then combine like therms to get your final answer.
5. negative powers are changed to positive when an expression is moved from its original position in a fraction.
you leave this the way it is to keep the exponent positive.

1. (8-x)(4-5x) = 8(4-5x)-x(4-5x)
= 32-40x-4x+5x^2
= 5x^2-44x+32
2. (8x^2 -6x+11)+(9x^2+8x-72)
= 8x^2 -6x+11+9x^2+8x-72
= 8x^2+9x^2 -6x+8x-72+11
= 17x^2+2x-61

3. Let x cm be the height of the traingle
Therefore, base of triangle = (x+6)cm
Area of triangle = 1/2*base*height
= 1/2*(x+6)*x
1/2*(x+6)*x = 20
(x+6)*x = 40
x*(x+6) = 40
x^2+6x-40 = 0
x^2+10x-4x-40 = 0
x(x+10)-4(x+10) = 0
(x-4)(x+10) = 0
x = 4 or -10(rejected since height cannot be negative)
height = 4 cm
base = 10cm

4. (y^2-4)(9y^2-6y+9)
= y^2(9y^2-6y+9)-4(9y^2-6y+9)
= 9y^4-6y^3+9y^2-36y^2+24y-36
= 9y^4-6y^3+-27y^2+24y-36

5. pls make ur question clearer.

1. 5x^2-44x+32

2. 17x^2+2x-61

3. b=6+h, area=20cm^2, h=?, b=?
area=[(b)(h)]/2
20cm^2=[(6+h)(h)]/2
20=[6h+h^2]/2
20*2=6h+h^2
40=6h+h^2
h^2+6h-40=0
(h+10)(h-4)=0
h= -10, h= +4
a negative side is not possible therefore h=4
height= 4, base=6+4=10

4. 9y^4-6y^3-27y^2+24y-36

5. (y-m)^-1
*i dont know if it's possible to have a positive exponent for that.. but i hope ive helped you with numbers 1-4...
