First, my prayers to you and your family.
Because it has become a multi-hour TV commercial for large organizations. I DO tune in and DO donate a small amount each year. But isn't it SAD how the telethon has lost so much appeal going from network TV to the equiv. of UHF TV and how every ten minutes (exageration) 7-11 or some other multi million $ company prances on with just one of 50 checks so ADVERTISE themselves for LESS than the cost of some commercial spots.

I will pray for your family and for a cure. MD also affects my family as my mother and several family members are afflicted with variations of MD. I have volunteered locally at the Telethon every year for the past 24 years, starting after my mother was diagnosed. I have seen first-hand the good things MDA does for people. If I can't give money, I at least give of my time and energy every year.

I guess as a survivor of Childhood Polio I just sort of figured I have lived the Telethon for my most of my life. I was of course luckier than most, and was able to lead the kind of life I wanted for a long time. I have some problems now which are possibly post polio syndrome.
I have done charity work for the MDA and donate but I can't spend the whole day glued to the TV.
I do think it is a very worthy cause and I wish your family the absolute best and join you in hoping and praying for a cure.

I donated my standard $100 that I have been donating since 1990 when I joined the Army... I don't want to watch it, I feel for you, I have 3 children with special needs and am very active in Special Olympics with 2 of them. the 3rd isn't able to participate
