This is normal and healthy. The ability to make friends can help you throughout life. People of all ages make friends. It's just easier for teens because they're not worrying about work and bill like adults. Also they don't have top worry about the competition that can be found in the workplace. Speaking of the workplace. making friends can work big time when it comes to getting a job.
What exactly do you have against making friends? Why would you think there was something wrong with it?

Most boys make friend with girls in hopes of gaining a sexual favor.
Beware of teenage boys and their hormones. They have bad intentions no matter what they say.
