For me the 1980s is best remembered for its music. It' the time when Michael Jackson and Madonna became famous.

Another thing that made the 1980s stand out is the fashion. The formula is easy: being a fashion victim means you are sporting 1980s clothing and hairstyle lol.

Oh gosh, the 80's....

Really bold colors. MC Hammer, Michael Jackson music. (You can search online for other 80's music as well). Pop rocks (the candy) were a big thing. Bright fuscia and blue makeup. Huge, bright plastic jewelry. Care bears. Maybe you could get posters of 80's tv shows? And movies that were big, like The Sandlot, Ferris Bueler's Day Off, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Dirty Dancing, Say Anything. If you watch some 80's movies before your party you might get a lot of ideas for clothing, music, decorations, food, etc.

Maybe you could have a silly string fight.

Good luck!

An 80's party! I am soooo jealous!

Oh, the 80's... the music, the bold makeup, the big hair, the mullets, the hypercolor t-shirts, washed jeans, legwarmers, shoulder pads, belts over shirts, socks over track pants, Carebears, Rainbow Brite, Danger Mouse, Astroboy, Transformers, Knight Rider and $0.10 for a packet of mixed lollies at the local deli... *sigh* Those were the days...

See if you can get your hands on an Atari or Commodore 64, along with some old games. Or maybe you'd like to ride some high-handled bicycles around the neighbourhood.

Oh I wish i was invited, that was my era and loved it, I still keep the music going though!
Dont forget blacklights.
The invitations should be shaped like an 8-track tape.(borderline 70"s but was still popular in early eighties)
music, omg, bon jovi, def lep, aerosmith, stones, fleetwood mac. billy squire, cyndi lauper, heart, led zep, Eddie money, meatloaf, Duran Duran, cat stevens, Reo speedwagon, queen, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Foghat, Frampton.
Girl I could go on and on.
bellbottoms, permed hair, track shoes. long shirts untucked with a metal belt around the waist for the girls. What a hoot this will be.
As far as food, I cant remember what was real popular except pizza.
Have a blast, e-mail me if you can.

The eighties sucked.. dont do it..
But if you like the 80's, then you werent there..hehe
If you want to make it anyways though. You would want to download alot of techno music and hair metal.
Your invitations should be loud colors like neon was poplular.
Also, big hair and metal bands and early computers.
There was also surfing, Miami Vice, keyboard synthesizer music, and early techno...but your best bet would be the Poison, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Ratt, and Motley Crue type theme...Hair metal was really really eighties...ugh!!
