With young girls who post pictures of themselves asking complete strangers on Yahoo! Answers if they are pretty? I mean, I realize teenage girls are insecure, been there done that, but these girls are so young. Shouldn't parents know their child is putting pictures of themselves in bikinis for the world to see?

This just annoys me.
Tell me your thoughts!

Cheers!

To "Mr know it all" I wasn't blaming parents at all. I realize how hard it is to moderate what your kids are doing on the computer.

Yes, and it's just as annoying when the boys do it. Unfortunately, our telling them they're attractive won't cure their insecurities.

Yes, I am bothered too. It is the standard cry for attention most often produced by poor parenting.

But what I find even more disturbing is that I see this very strong trend of very young girls emulating celebrities like Pamela Anderson, Pris Hilton, Lindsy Lohan, and Amy whinhouse. These women so often act and dress like prostitutes and have no shame or dignity!

It is an irony that so much talent and beauty is bestowed on such low characters, but such is life.

I worry about how parents are raising their children...it can only have bad consequences, of which we already see.

Yeh i guess it can be annoying but you have to understand that these young girls don't think their that young. they don't understand that there are probably thousands of people who look at their picture and this is definatly a safety issue. if some old guy looks at their photos and finds out where they live then its not going to be hard to track them down. there are things you can do about this:

try reporting them (for their own good) or try to contact them and tell them that it's silly what they are doing.
And yes these girls are just trying to get people to call them pretty but we can't blame it all on them.
xx

I agree with you.Its downright disgusting. But I differ with you insofar as the question of their insecurity is concerned. Posting pics or getting people to appreciate them, do not generate in them any feelings of security.Keep in mind that only girls who consider or think themselves, to be beautiful, resort to such gimmicks, just to satisfy their already inflated egos. Its psychological satisfaction that they are looking for.Why blame their parents? Its very difficult to keep track of all the activities that your girl is upto, nowadays.Such people also suffer from 'exhibitionists' phobia. They derive pleasure in exhibiting themselves. So from other angle such girls require psychiatrist help.
