I am planning to reinstall the carpet in one room of my house.
I want to match this carpet exactly to the carpet in the hallway outside the room. Luckily, I managed to find an identical replacement carpet at a local store. This is a do-it-yourself project. I have read a lot of instructions on the Internet describing how to install a carpet but they do not describe if it is possible to match the carpet seamlessly between two different sections of the floor and what precautions I should take to do it. I will appreciate any tips on it (or a link). A very large area of my house (1750 sq ft) has identical carpet and I do not see any visible joint anywhere. So it must be possible. Appreciate your help.

Did this myself a few years back. Just a matter of rolling out the carpet and matching any patterns up, then use a carpet tape to hold the seams together. Mine is still holding with no seam showing. 3M has the best carpet tape that I know of.

Until I was married, I had zero idea how important that was. Especially since I am red-green colorblind. Not only that, I have learned to not moan and grown when my wife wants me to repaint a room...I do the work of painting, she buys new curtains...and is all happy... This happens every couple of years. (I see red fine, always have...and when I see a red light, I stop, the yellow light, I speed up or slow down pending if my kids are in the car...and the whilte light, that one I can go cause I know it is green...) As per matching the house, that is my wife's job. I admit, she has it looking very nice. Recently, we have put 30k into our house, new kitchen, all new appliances, new solid oak cabinets, french back doors, brand new ceramic tiles for kitchen, 1st floor hallways and bathroom. All new siding, new roof...man, the house looks sweet. Maybe it would have been easier to just buy a new house...but then again, every couple years I would be repainting, she would be buying new curtains, and the cycle of life would continue, just in a different house. I like my huge backyard, sweet deck, and backyard pool. I get to buy the big screen TV cause I keep the wife happy. She is happy, and thinks the world of me, and I get...well, you know... But yes, if it wasn't for the women in the world, our houses apparently would have zero style.

Professionally the seaming would be accomplished with the standard Glue tape and flat seaming iron. Obviously the NAP should flow in the same direction on any BUTTED pieces.
