I find myself purposely disagreeing with people just to see how long they keep up a fight to prove their "rightness." It is a frightening experience. Any thoughts?

it's alright to diasgree with people who thinks you're not right, only if you really are right or, if you have a different opinion other than theirs, but if you just disagree on purpose, just to spite them, then that sucks. i mean, argument is a beautiful conversation cause you get to reason out and exercise good judgment and logic, but its not a means to boost your ego. it motivates you to further enhance your wit and mental capability at the same time boosts your self-esteem. i always disagree when i know that others are wrong, and i'm right, but i knpow when to listen when i'm really wrong and i take bow when i know for sure that i'm wrong. but you know what, i've learned that the beauty of argument is that when you argue correctly, you're never wrong. =)

I learned something growing up many years ago with my step dad and this is it.

"You can believe that you are right beyond the shadow of a doubt and still be wrong."

Those are my words, not his. If you're anything like me then you need to know why people believe what they believe no matter how mundane the situation or topic is. It frustrates me when I'm in a situation when I cant understand a person's thought behind their actions. Iif a person is right, I want to know why in order to grow in my own knowledge. Debates are fun if you want to be right, but conversations will help you learn what's right.

It depends what it is:

1. If it's not important to me, I say let's agree to disagree.

2. If it's important to me, I say let's agree to disagree.

You see what I mean - you need to take into account that your views, values, ideas, thoughts, opinions can't and won't be accepted all the time.

So if you think this answer is wrong, let's just agree to disagree.

It's called perseverance !! Usually i give up if I know i'm wrong but sometime i know i'm right but everyone turn my thinking down, but still i stick to it.. Some causes are definittely worth ! What you go through to stick to a thought proves it's importance.

Disagreeing with general ideas and views can lead to creativity if sincere and logical.... otherwise it is egoistic disaster..... one should never disagree merely to boost own ego...... in the hope of being extraordinary, one can end up being abnormal.

let the two difference people living seperately, world will become peace!!!
in stead of "why can't you let it go?"...why not asking "why can't they let me off?"...
did you see both questions are different but equal at the same time?
to avoid fight and dispute...the best is never let these two extremely people live together...they can never live in peace!!!

Adopt this as a mantra.

I would rather be happy than right.

Very freeing to the mind.
