Why do couples in 'love' spend tens of thousands of pounds on their wedding?

Because they are getting married for the 'wedding' and not a marriage.............
Me and Mr Nice will be spending as little as possible, we will go away and come back and announce our marriage.
I am marrying him because I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him, not because I want to be 'centre of attention' for a day!!

In this life, nothing is free. I think it is a waste of money to spend lots of $$$ on a wedding, unless you are rich and can afford it!

Because they're as dumb as a box of rocks. I can think of a lot of things to do with ten thousand bucks!

because like most things nowadays humans have taken something beautiful and corrupted it,a wedding is a promise before god to honor and obey each other in marriage,now sadly the average marriege lasts only 3 years

I made the same question to myself yesterday.
I was at a wedding reception. More than 300 persons, live music, champaign , etc.etc.etc.... So much money spent for 4 hours.. The bride's mother is my friend. I asked her how much did they pay for all that. She answered "We just lost a small Mercedes"....
Isn't it too much??
