Yes, people usually let others see just what they want them to see and think they know about them. Sometimes it is a front to hide a hurt or they are just a private type of person who values their privacy

i'm trying , in my life, to be completely open... to have no dark secret places. i try to say and do what is natural for me. i hate secrets, but there are things everybody doesn't need, or want , to know. i try to show how i think and feel in what i say and do. at the same time, i try to see the person, not just the outward appearance. i try to be completely unprejudiced and try to empathize with others.

Absolutely, it depends on where they are or how well they know you....if they're in public or at work they might be acting in a way that is considered socially acceptable.
Don't forget the psychopaths who seem normal and then go out and kill people, unnoticed.

I think you can argue it either way. Personally, I would lean towards including what a person thinks and/or maybe what they look like, their physical form.
