From the day you first sign an offer to buy, until the final signing of the purchase papers, it takes between 30 and 45 days. There has to be time to process the loan, get the documents to the county and back, search the title, get the house appraised and inspected, and everything depends on about a dozen different people making the time to do your paperwork in their busy day.

That would depend on what it says on your contract and how fast all the parties get the document in from both the seller and buyer. If it's an easy file and everyone is cooperative, you can close it as soon as two weeks. If there are problems on the loan or if the seller are not willing to close until a certain date (per your purchase contract) it can take longer. Up to 45 days should still be good but usually no more than 30 days from the open date of escrow.

About an hour at the closing table. Lots of paperwork.
