What do you like to do on the weekends? What is your favorite sport or team? Have you seen any good movies lately? Where did you get that great outfit? Have you ever been to??? If you could take a vacation any where in the world where would it be? Do you have a pet? Tell a good joke. Tell a good story about something funny that happened to you.

You could always ask them a question, such as what sports they play etc.. You could make a joke, or tell them something interesting that you just learned and tell them you will teach it to them if they want. Just to throw this is: I heard that every time there is an awkward silence a gay baby is born (not that I'm against that at all).

I'm usually pretty talkative, and believe me.. there will only be an awkward silence if you make it awkward. Just be friendly, crack a joke even!

introduce your self first and then ask her name. Talking about the weather, the surrounding/environment, ask to joint for tea etc. if any response, ask about hobbies. That I think will start a new relation .

i talk with them about my self and ask them about theirselves.... and ask them if they like this.. or whatever...
