Hello;

I have just the thing for your sister. Go to the grocery store and buy a ginger root. Dice up three or four cubes (about the size of sugar cubes) and make ginger tea by pouring boiling water over the cubes in a mug. Let it steep for 5+ minutes and then drink it like you would regular tea.

This worked wonders for my wife during both of her pregnancies. Ginger is a natural stomach settler and has long been suggested by midwives, naturopaths and many doctors.

Please note that there has been some research surrounding gingers’ mutagenic effects, however, there seems to be more anecdotal evidence than hard data. It has also been suggested that ginger may interfere with some anticoagulant medications.

I suggest that you have your sister talk with her doctor about this. If after that chat she feels comfortable with drinking ginger tea, I think she will be quite pleasantly surprised how well and quickly it can settle her stomach.

Hope this helps.

What worked for me was watered down juice becuase for some reason my body wouldn't take water and juice by itself is too sugary, not enough water and when you're sick you really need to concentrate on rehydrating (I only sipped it and didn't drink and eat at the same time, I would let my stomach digest before drinking unless I needed a sip or two while I ate)

Canteloupe- I like this one a lot, it has BVitamins (help w/ naseau and helps hydrates)

Cream of Wheat w/ a little sugar, kind of plain but not as harsh as oatmeal

Saltines (classic, but I wasn't big on them)

NOT CHICKEN NooDLE SOUP- too much salt

Baby food- sounds wierd, I know but I had hyperemisis and when I was at the sickest point in my pregnancy I turned to this and found it wasn't half bad (my fav is the bananas)

Apples & Peanut Butter
Cheerios
Mashed potatoes (easy on the pepper, if any)
Strawberries
Bananas
Plain sliced yellow cheese from the brick (not fake pre-sliced and package cheese)

SMALL QUANTITIES

Try whatever is plain and easy to digest.

Saltine crackers and soup maybe?

There is a product called Emetrol you can get at the pharmacy that is safe for pregnancy that helps with nausea and vomiting. Also, warm Coke seems to help.

It is important that she try to eat something. Also, make sure she is taking her prenatel vitamins.

There is a diet recommended to pregnant women when they don't have much luck holding things down.

It's the BRAT diet.

B - Bananas
R - Rice
A - Applesauce
T - Toast

See if that helps her. MAKE SURE she is getting PLENTY of fluids. Hydrations is very important even if she's just sipping. All the best!

how about Cheerios (or if you want a healthier version, try the kind made by Wild Oats or Whole Foods - that's what I used and it helped).

Also, how about Preggie Pops? They are lollipops especially for nausea and come in several flavors. You can get it at Mimi Maternity.

Good luck - if she can't keep anything down she should talk to her doctor immediately.

Visit the doctor immediately, you cannot treat a pregnant as a usual patient and should not try your own medicines, I suggest you to talk to your doctor. Always take a doctors advice.

Every pregnancy is different. Tell her to put some saltine crackers by her bed, and to eat those BEFORE even attempting to get up. It worked for me.
