Some people are offended by it, but I've never heard much about what "it" is.

I think it also is the name of a chicano supremacist group as well. The details are foggy, but we used to have a chapter come to my old college and I remember their slogan was "for our race, everything, for everyone else, nothing?" in spanish. Now, my family is from Mexico, but I'll be damned if I didn't give 'em hell for their racist beliefs until their lot crawled back under the rock they came out from.

La Raza means the people or my gang

la raza literally means the race many latinos use the term literally however some "chicanos" (mexican americans) use the term as a phrase of empowerment. or a battle cry if you will for injustices done to their people throughout history

"our people" its a term to make reference of ones identity ones place, ones origin. i have never heard of anyone being offended by it
