John Edwards just said that his "universal health care coverage" would REQUIRE that people go for annual health checkups. Liberal facism has shown its face! I guess he either decided to tell the truth about the left wing's agenda, or else he has gotten tired of being marginally respected.

It seems many Republicans are furious that a study was done with a $1.2 million federal research grant, but they would have been irked in any case that three university professors have published a report finding that right-wing conservatives need a shrink.
The psychoanalysis of the G.O.P. would not have gotten much attention if it had not been given headline play in the right-wing journal National Review. One of the magazine’s writers, the outraged Byron York, gave the study by the scholarly trio professors at Stanford, the University of California and the University of Maryland some publicity under the headline: Conservatives are Crazy.
The professors’ conclusions:
Political conservatism is significantly associated with mental rigidity and closed-mindedness, including
(a) increased dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity;
(b) decreased cognitive complexity;
(c) decreased openness to experience;
(d) uncertainty avoidance;
(e) personal needs for order and structure; and
(f) needs for cognitive closure.
If that's not enough, they went on by citing conservatives’ low self-esteem; fear, anger, and aggression; pessimism, disgust and contempt.

What insurance program would insure people who do not get regular checkups.
How is this insane? If you want to be covered by insurance whether private or public you would need to have periodic check-ups. Noone is taking away your right to be ignorant, avoid a doctor and then get sicker. He is just saying your insurance won't cover you if you are stupid enough to practice this right.
This is not facism - it is promoting a system that will work a lot better than what we have now. Why are republicans so opposed to the idea of a healthy workforce?

If you read Edward's proposal carefully it specifically exempts Conservatives from getting well.
and, BTW...Michael Savage came up with that line because of this:

I don't know about requiring a checkup but it's not a bad idea to have one once in awhile.

The problem isn't with liberalism. The problem is with authoritarian liberalism, and it is the same problem that exists with authoritarian conservatism. Too many people with government jobs, getting paid by the American public, and telling the American public what to do.
