I thought all fantasies were pleasant. The people in the Mental Health section are telling me that you can have unpleasant fantasies.

Yes there are unpleasant fantasies. I usually think of them as pleasant too, but, by definition, there is nothing to say they have to be pleasant.

The people in the MH section are correct this time, however, they are not experts, so you should not believe everything that is said there.

a nightmare would classify as an unpleasant fantasy. You may also create anxiety fantasies to help appease other fantasies. Like fantasize that people are talking about your back or that a loved one dies. Fantasies that justify you worrying all the time.

A fantasy is just a made up reality. Something that you think about over and over... It's like... A daydream. You can daydream bad things are happening. It's something that you imagine. Isn't your imagination capable of imaging both good and bad things??

Go to the link I left you, and read the first section of definitions, and read number three in italics. It will tell you that people can have unpleasant fantasies. Nightmare fantasies!

THEY ARE BUT WHEN YOU BELIEVE THE FANTASIES THEY BECOME UNPLEASENT.
