It is better to divide the megabits by 10 to get the MegaBytes per second. That's because when you are moving data over a communications line there is usually some overhead that uses up part of the bandwidth.
So, 3 megabits per second gives 300KBytes per second. The way this is written is 300KBps, with a capital B. When writing about bits, it is with a lowercase b, as in 3Mbps for 3 megabits per second.
